The coronavirus has changed our way of life dramatically. What we took for granted has been turned on its ear. Our jobs. Our recreation. Our mobility. Our ability to meet up with friends and family. And the list goes on.
For now we’re sitting at home in what feels like a holding pattern. Where do we go from here? For those of us chomping at the bit to get out and get going, it’s beyond frustrating. So much is out of our control.
The uncertainty and anxiety is natural during such a crisis but we can look at this as an opportunity. A chance to slow down, take a breath and reflect on the state of our life.
It’s a time to really ask ourselves some tough questions and, perhaps, reset our thinking.
Why is there such a rush for speed in our society? It seems everything is centered around immediacy and the “I want it now” mentality. Instant gratification. We rush through the day watching the clock, rarely taking time to witness nature and really enjoy the small moments in life. All to what end?
In the race to make money, many people end up working in careers or jobs that don’t make them happy. Is it worth it? Have we sacrificed our passion and doing things we love in order to simply become a cog in a machine?
For those who have neglected their health, is this now a wake-up call to focus on mind, body and spirit? Maybe this is the time to get in shape, become more spiritual and committed to your well being.
Why have we allowed so much negativity in our lives? Negative people, news, politics, social media and jealousy? It’s time to change that and focus on positivity and good.
To create a better version of ourselves, we need to ask the tough questions and really be willing to make changes. It’s rare we’re gifted an opportunity to hit the reset button so take time to own it and reshape the present and the future. You’re worth it.
