For those of you thinking of starting a business and dreaming of success, you might be asking yourself, “How can I do this and not become the ruthless “jerk” stereotype some think business leaders are?”
It’s simple.
You treat people fair, inspire your staff and be good leader.
Just as in sports, a team isn’t made of one person, it takes a great group of individuals working together to win and the same goes for success in business.
That’s my mindset.
I’m super competitive and I want my team to be the best they can be. Sometimes they have no idea what they can accomplish and it’s your job as a leader to help them bring out their best. You can motivate, teach and light the fire within them to take their performance to the next level.
I’ve worked for several large companies before I started my entrepreneurial journey eighteen years ago and there were few managers or supervisors who knew how to truly lead. Many brought negativity to everything, only looked for mistakes and were seeking to further their career at the expense of others.
That’s a recipe for failure.
So I’ll leave you with this. Starting a business, being entrepreneur and leading a company is about building a profitable organization. It’s about making money. That’s why businesses exist but that doesn’t mean you can’t create an amazing company for employees to work, grow, build a career and have a family/team atmosphere where everyone is inspired! That’s right, you can build a successful business by being a down to earth person.
Be good to your team
Inspire your team
Help elevate your team’s skills
If you focus these core things, you’ll often find the journey is fun and the success you can attain will be truly worth it!
